45 Non-Candy Easter Basket Stuffers for Little Kids

I come from a long line of gift-givers, and – I can’t help myself – I love buying for my kids. In particular, I love putting together collections of small gifts (like stockings or Easter baskets). I just think it’s so fun to “curate” special tokens around a specific holiday or time of year, and I actually enjoy the challenge of keeping items small enough to fit in a particular container and within a certain budget. Obviously Easter baskets aren’t the most important thing about Easter, but I do enjoy finding spring/summer themed gifts, and I like like to throw in some practical items and essentials that I would buy anyway but are still fun for the kids to “open” that morning.

This year, for the first time, I’ll be filling Easter baskets for TWO kids – a boy (age 4.5) and a girl (age 1) – so I thought I’d share 45 (whew) ideas I’ve had. Most of these are gender-neutral (or can be swapped for a more gender-specific color etc. if you’re into that), good for a wide age range, and relatively inexpensive. I’m, clearly, not buying all of these things for my own kids, but they are getting some of them and/or have in the past. So, here we go!

  1. Jellycat Bunny (the softest stuffed animals in the world – I got one for Nora for her bunny birthday!)
  2. Play-Doh Eggs
  3. Easter Egg Stampers
  4. Hide-and-Squeak Eggs (These are super popular with both kids at my house!)
  5. Resurrection Eggs
  6. Dancing Eggs Game
  7. Hatching Easter Eggs
  8. Easter Books (We love The Berenstain Bears.)
  9. Bible / Devotional (I recommend the Jesus Storybook Bible and Jesus Calling for Kids – good for older preschoolers/elementary age. This year, Nora is getting Jesus Calling for Little Ones.)
  10. Crayons / Markers
  11. Coloring Book
  12. Sidewalk Chalk
  13. Personalized writing book from May Designs (I gave Sam one that said “Sam’s Writing: Winter 2016” at Christmas. I love the idea of doing a Spring one at Easter and keeping them to look back on years from now. Just choose any pattern you like – there are tons of cute ones – and select <Kids Handwriting Book> as your inside pages.)
  14. Archer Adventure Journal (We’ve been using the school-year journal, and it is so sweet and fun. This is a new “spring theme” release.)
  15. Slinky
  16. Re-usable Sticker Pads (These are so great for car trips or quiet play!)
  17. Card Games & Holder
  18. Bubbles
  19. Hot Wheels
  20. Little People Toys (I love the Farm Animals for Nora)
  21. Mini Lego Kits (Less than $5, and Sam would LOVE it)
  22. Flashlight (Such a hit with Sam and practical too!)
  23. Gardening Tools & Seed Packets (Great stuff in Target’s dollar spot right now too!)
  24. Bug Catching Kit
  25. Bug Spray
  26. Sunblock
  27. Sunglasses
  28. Swimsuits (Nora is wearing this this year) / Rashguards (Our favorite for Sam)
  29. Water Shoes / Flip Flops
  30. Rain Boots / Umbrellas
  31. Sand Toys
  32. Movie or Museum Tickets
  33. Baseball Cap (love this one) or Sun Hat (both my kids have worn these)
  34. Hair Bows (my favorite shop for handmade bows) or Bow Ties
  35. Socks (Sam loves printed socks, and these are too cute!)
  36. Underwear
  37. T-Shirt / Romper
  38. Pajamas (my mom just got these and these for Sam and Nora!)
  39. Swaddle Blankets (my very favorite brand – and how cute are these for spring?)
  40. Bibs (I also like these disposable ones to keep in the diaper bag.)
  41. Water Bottle (Sam’s getting robots, and Nora’s getting ladybugs this year.)
  42. Bottle Labels (I love these for Nora’s bottles!)
  43. Toothbrush & Toothpaste
  44. Character Bandaids
  45. Vitamins

So, that should keep you busy! 😉 I will pick a few items from this list for each kid + a some Annie’s Homegrown cheddar & gummy bunnies and a fancy iced cookie from Panera for Sam and call it good. What about you? What great Easter basket ideas did I forget?

Hope you have a great week!
