I come from a long line of gift-givers, and – I can’t help myself – I love buying for my kids. In particular, I love putting together collections of small gifts (like stockings or Easter baskets). I just think it’s so fun to “curate” special tokens around a specific holiday or time of year, and I actually enjoy the challenge of keeping items small enough to fit in a particular container and within a certain budget. Obviously Easter baskets aren’t the most important thing about Easter, but I do enjoy finding spring/summer themed gifts, and I like like to throw in some practical items and essentials that I would buy anyway but are still fun for the kids to “open” that morning.
This year, for the first time, I’ll be filling Easter baskets for TWO kids – a boy (age 4.5) and a girl (age 1) – so I thought I’d share 45 (whew) ideas I’ve had. Most of these are gender-neutral (or can be swapped for a more gender-specific color etc. if you’re into that), good for a wide age range, and relatively inexpensive. I’m, clearly, not buying all of these things for my own kids, but they are getting some of them and/or have in the past. So, here we go!
- Jellycat Bunny (the softest stuffed animals in the world – I got one for Nora for her bunny birthday!)
- Play-Doh Eggs
- Easter Egg Stampers
- Hide-and-Squeak Eggs (These are super popular with both kids at my house!)
- Resurrection Eggs
- Dancing Eggs Game
- Hatching Easter Eggs
- Easter Books (We love The Berenstain Bears.)
- Bible / Devotional (I recommend the Jesus Storybook Bible and Jesus Calling for Kids – good for older preschoolers/elementary age. This year, Nora is getting Jesus Calling for Little Ones.)
- Crayons / Markers
- Coloring Book
- Sidewalk Chalk
- Personalized writing book from May Designs (I gave Sam one that said “Sam’s Writing: Winter 2016” at Christmas. I love the idea of doing a Spring one at Easter and keeping them to look back on years from now. Just choose any pattern you like – there are tons of cute ones – and select <Kids Handwriting Book> as your inside pages.)
- Archer Adventure Journal (We’ve been using the school-year journal, and it is so sweet and fun. This is a new “spring theme” release.)
- Slinky
- Re-usable Sticker Pads (These are so great for car trips or quiet play!)
- Card Games & Holder
- Bubbles
- Hot Wheels
- Little People Toys (I love the Farm Animals for Nora)
- Mini Lego Kits (Less than $5, and Sam would LOVE it)
- Flashlight (Such a hit with Sam and practical too!)
- Gardening Tools & Seed Packets (Great stuff in Target’s dollar spot right now too!)
- Bug Catching Kit
- Bug Spray
- Sunblock
- Sunglasses
- Swimsuits (Nora is wearing this this year) / Rashguards (Our favorite for Sam)
- Water Shoes / Flip Flops
- Rain Boots / Umbrellas
- Sand Toys
- Movie or Museum Tickets
- Baseball Cap (love this one) or Sun Hat (both my kids have worn these)
- Hair Bows (my favorite shop for handmade bows) or Bow Ties
- Socks (Sam loves printed socks, and these are too cute!)
- Underwear
- T-Shirt / Romper
- Pajamas (my mom just got these and these for Sam and Nora!)
- Swaddle Blankets (my very favorite brand – and how cute are these for spring?)
- Bibs (I also like these disposable ones to keep in the diaper bag.)
- Water Bottle (Sam’s getting robots, and Nora’s getting ladybugs this year.)
- Bottle Labels (I love these for Nora’s bottles!)
- Toothbrush & Toothpaste
- Character Bandaids
- Vitamins
So, that should keep you busy! 😉 I will pick a few items from this list for each kid + a some Annie’s Homegrown cheddar & gummy bunnies and a fancy iced cookie from Panera for Sam and call it good. What about you? What great Easter basket ideas did I forget?
Hope you have a great week!
