OK. Remember that time when I said this would be up “tomorrow,” and I actually meant “eight days from now”? It appears February is not going to go easy on me either…
I know none of you have been sitting around around pining for this post, but still… I’m sorry!
Anyway, shall we?
This is nothing life-changing, but after I mentioned my love for The Bachelor in last week’s round-up of things “saving my life right now,” I thought I’d share a few of my favorite places to get Bachelor Recaps every Tuesday (ish) and improve your Bachelor watching experience tenfold. If you are watching The Bachelor every Monday night (who isn’t?) and you aren’t reading/listening to recaps for the rest of the week, you aren’t fully living. 😉
Hilarious blog-post recaps —
The Possessionista – Dana’s real focus is telling her readers where they kind find the clothes people wear on TV, but her Bachelor episode recaps are, truly, gems. Basically, she says all the things we are thinking but wouldn’t say out loud about the show. (Rated PG-13, but so is the show so…)
Here’s a little tidbit from her post after Episode 4:
See, gem I tell you.
Sheaffer Told Me To – coincidentally, Sheaffer usually blogs about clothes too. But she, too, breaks once a week to discuss the latest season of The Bachelor. (She’s good friends with Shay Shull – Sean Lowe’s sister – and started doing this after his season I believe.) She’s also hilarious and totally talks to the “mom” audience watching this show with equal parts disgust and fascination. #amirite?
Here’s what I mean (also after episode 4 because I started this post years ago)…
And later…
She also makes some pretty funny little cartoons for each episode…
Look, we can’t spend all our time reading deeply spiritual and literary books… This stuff is QUALITY.
If you’re looking for something a little more reflective / insightful (terms I use VERY lightly here) there is quite a collection of Former Bachelor/Bachelorette contestants in the blog-recap game. Here are the two best in my opinion —
Sharleen @ All the Pretty Pandas — You’ll remember her as “the opera singer” from Season 18 of The Bachelor (Juan Pablo’s season) and her recaps are the perfect mix of sincere observations, insider “scoop” about filming/producers/etc., and a tiny bit of snark.
Ali Fedotowsky @ Ali Luvs — Ali seems to be in touch with many of The Bachelor girls on the current season and provides some good insight into what we don’t see in each episode (and some of their fashion choices). Especially since becoming a mom to seven-month old Molly, she’s a little softer/kinder than most of the other blogger recaps too, which I appreciate. 🙂
Honorable Mention: Sean Lowe doesn’t do a weekly episode recap, but he has some great things to say about show in general and his own Bachelor-originated love story on his Patheos blog Six Seeds. I loved this recent post with “unsolicited advice” for Nick.
And, finally, my personal favorite recap method: podcasts —
Here to Make Friends — Emma Grey and Claire Fallon (of The Huffington Post) have a great, conversational dynamic; chat with awesome guests (lots of Bachelor vets); and always make me laugh! There’s a slightly “feminist” slant to this podcast which feels odd at times; but they don’t take themselves too seriously, so it works!
Channel 33 – Bachelor Party — I just recently found this one, and I’m LOVING their recaps. Channel 33 is actually a larger podcast about pop culture and current events, but they release a Bachelor recap episode every Tuesday with host Juliet Litman and a special guest (again, usually a show vet or “expert” of some sort). I can’t describe this one really, but it’s very professionally done, funny, and – again – gives lots of good “behind the scenes” info. (Episode 236 with Ben Higgins was excellent! It made me like Ben SO much.)
*It’s worth noting that everyone’s favorites, Knox and Jamie of the Popcast, also do weekly Bachelor episodes, but you have to be a Patreon supporter to get access and – so far – I haven’t made that kind of commitment! (Can anyone report back? Worth it?)
There you go!!! I know there are SO many of these types of things out there, but this is where I usually “check in” each week. What did I miss? Where’s your favorite place to get Bachelor recaps?
Happy almost Friday!

Have you read Lincee from http://www.ihategreenbeans.com ???
She’s SO GOOD. I honestly didn’t even like bachelor recaps until I started reading hers. Now I watch for the recap 🙂

We totally think it’s worth it. 😉

A couple producers from the Ellen show do a hilarious vlog each week about the episode. I find myself spending more time reading and watching recaps than I do watching the actual show…
