Teaching Sam and Scout

Good morning and happy Saturday! I’ve actually had a little stomach bug all week, but I finally started feeling better yesterday, and we got to go see Zootopia at the drive-in last night. It was so fun! The outdoor atmosphere was perfect for the kids. Is there anything better than sitting under the stars, eating popcorn with your people? (We had so much fun that little lady is still snoozing as I type this at 8:15.)

I thought the movie was really good, but I was surprised at how dark it was to be honest. The message was great, but way over Sam’s head and scary at times. Given how much hype the movie has gotten, I expected something really different – more musical and light I guess. That said, it is a movie I’d like to revisit and talk with Sam about when he is a little older. I see Disney going more and more in this direction, and I don’t think it’s a bad thing, though I want some purely fun stories out there too. You know? What did you think of Zootopia?

Tomorrow is Jeff’s birthday, so we will be celebrating him all weekend! I hope you have some fun things planned too, but first…

This shop sells funny greeting cards and other goodies that tell it like it is. (PG-13)

I love the quote on this F. Scott Fitzgerald tank from Scarlet & Gold Shop (and how funny is this one?!?!)

I ordered this bathing suit from JCrew Factory this week. I don’t know if it will work for me or not, but it’s gingham and only $22.00, so I had to try it…

They don’t really match my kitchen, but I’m hardcore crushing on these black and white striped dish towels from Jones Design Co. (Wouldn’t they be cute to keep on hand to wrap something delicious in as a hostess gifts? If only I was that kind-of person. ;))

Have you tried Zella leggings yet? They are pretty pricey, but people just love them. I’m debating…

And two more quick things…

(One) I’m getting ready to start working on the 2nd edition of the Teaching Sam & Scout Newsletter (to go out in early/mid May). If you haven’t already, please make sure you sign up for it in the sidebar (or by clicking here). The idea behind the newsletter is to give you a closer glimpse inside my home life (teaching “Sam”) and my school life (teaching “Scout”). What would you like to read about there? What questions do you have about either of those areas?!? (Please email me or comment here with ideas!)

(Two) If you aren’t following me on Facebook, you’re missing out! (Ha!) Seriously though, I’d love to have you join me there too where I post my favorite links & likes all week long and enjoy more of a “conversational” atmosphere! It’s been a buzz all week, and I’d love to have you chime in!

Have a great weekend!
