Well, I survived three days of inservice and “policy-talk.” Barely. I’ll be honest, this week was hard. It was hard waking up early, and putting on real clothes, and leaving my babies. And, it was hard talking about test scores, and lock-down procedures, and school strategic plans. I came home at 3:00 every afternoon absolutely exhausted. BUT, next Wednesday, the kids will come… And it will be worth it. Ten years of “the first week” have taught me that.
I’m really excited about some new ideas I’ve had and things I plan to do differently this year, and I can’t wait to share them with you in the next few weeks. But, for now, how about some links and likes?!?! Big list today:
Links:
“10 Things You Should Throw Out in Your Classroom NOW” – I totally agree! I HATE clutter, and every year I’m getting a little closer to being paperless.
“A Funny Letter to My Kids about My Pregnancy” – LOL
“My Kid Is Throwing a Tantrum Because I’m a Good Mom” – Been there. Love this.
“Magnolia Classroom Makeover” – Chip & Joanna strike again. #amazing
“Every Opportunity” – a super powerful video that’s gotten a lot of attention this week about the way we talk to kids
“Back to School Slow Cooker Recipes” – because who doesn’t need more slow cooker recipes?

I’ve used Kroger ClickList twice now to order my groceries online and have them brought right out to my car. Y’all, it.is.life.changing. I’ll probably never go in the store again.
I’m basically obsessed with these old-school letter boards from Letterfolk (shown above). I’ve seen lots of adorable photos of kids holding them for their first day of school photo, and I’d love to use one in my classroom to post quotes from the novels we are reading etc.
How cute is this under-stated “Game Day” sweatshirt on sale at Jane.com? I’d wear it every Saturday in the fall.
Speaking of fall, this is a great deal on personalized Halloween treat bags for kids. (Can you believe we are only 2 months away from Halloween?!?)
HOW did I not know about this shop before?!?! C. Jayne Teach is like the Emily Ley of teachers, and I want everything she sells!!!
I’m not quite ready to shop for fall yet; but, when I am, this just might be my first purchase.
I finished this book on Monday night and cannot stop thinking about it. I may even try to teach it in my 11th grade class this year. (Full review to come… eventually.)
Did you see that Laura Tremaine (with Megan Tietz) is starting her own podcast – The Smartest Person in the Room. It starts this week, but the trailer sounds great, and I love her on the Sorta Awesome Show. I’m already subscribed.
Who knew you could buy BabyLit books on Amazon? Some of them are way cheaper than I’ve seen anywhere else AND free-shipping with prime. (I just ordered three for shower gifts… and Nora.)
That ought to do it. Have a great weekend!

Happy back to school! I’m on the west coast and we don’t start training until next week but i’m not looking forward to it. I agree though, once the kids come it’s all worth it! Already entered and hope to win the planner. Have a great week! 🙂
