Happy Friday and happy Mid-Month!! Heather and I are back for the new year sharing our deepest, darkest secrets confessions on the 15th (or so) of every month. We’ve decided to cut out the link-up, but we’d still love to hear what cringe-worthy things you’ve done lately in the comments. So, without further adieu:
In addition to sporting a Clemson sweatshirt with dress pants to work on Monday myself, I literally forced Sam to wear his only Clemson shirt (an oversized t-shirt that he has been sleeping in for two years and has obvious stains on it – the fact that that’s all the Clemson gear he has is a confession in and of itself) to school. He might have cried when I told him that’s what he was wearing, and I made him do it anyway. (I, appropriately, paired it with oversized sweat pants; and he accessorized with a black eye courtesy of a table-incident at church on Sunday. He looked totally tough.)
Yesterday, the shirt I put on to wear to work was extremely static-y. I was running late (imagine that!), so I made the quick decision to spray my body with hair spray. (Where did that idea come from? Is it supposed to help with static? I don’t know!) For the record: It did NOT work, and my blouse had little wet mark stains ALL over it.
I don’t wash my face before bed. Like, ever.
Nora has been on an antibiotic for the last week for an ear infection. Giving her the medicine has been such a miserable ordeal that I have sincerely considered, at least once every day, just not giving her the medicine any more and taking my chances. What kind of mother considers that? #Ididitanyway #dontworry #almostdone
And there you have it. As hot-mess as ever.
Until next (mid)month,
E
(P.S. Yesterday’s post was basically one big confession. Read it here if you missed it, and thank you to everyone who has left such kind and encouraging comments for me this week. This post seemed to resonate with a lot of you too. I love us.)

Oh girl I stuffed myself into my Clemson t-shirt and wore it proudly (and oh-so-awkwardly) in public. I never though to buy maternity Clemson gear it seems. And the hair spray on your clothes! I’m cracking up. I can see myself doing something like this for sure. 🙂 Have a great weekend!!!

My little one had constant ear infections, and she was the WORST at getting the antibiotic down. It was wrestlemaniaUSA twice a day. I felt like I was giving an antibiotic to a cat: hold her down, tilt her head back, pry her mouth open, and massage her throat to get it down.

Michael had an ear infection, too! He was good at taking it at first…and then we resorted to that old stand by: BRIBERY! HA! Sadly, that won’t work on Nora, so best of luck!

Do you have a soothie pacifier? If so, cut a hole in the nipple (make sure it’s REALLY small), put it in her mouth, and slowly use a syringe to put medicine in it while she sucks it out. It worked like a charm with both of my boys because they saw it as food. Haha. If you do it around feeding time, even better.
Also, I went to wash the face of my youngest because dirt is a boy’s best friend only to discover that it wasn’t dirt. He is covered in bruises because #boy and #hehasanolderbrother. That’s totally living the mom life right there. Haha.

girl.
when mary virginia got her first antibiotic the doctor was like, KIDS LOVE THIS!
it was horrible.maybe even worse than the ear infection. (and don’t get me started on probiotics, diarrhea, diaper rash…) i wrote this about it long ago:

you’ll get through it!!!

I’m dying at the hairspray. Couldn’t stop laughing. I would totally do that!
The medecine can be flavoured differently (at least it can where I live). My daughter loves the berry, but hates the banana.

Ahhh…medicine. How did I miss that?!

I know she’s a little young for it, but I thought I would pass along our life saving tip someone gave us! We put a little chocolate syrup in a spoon and let him eat that before the medicine. Chocolate covers bitter flavors and makes taking medicine seem like a treat! I’ve also had other friends mix it in with chocolate pudding, pharmacist approved and suggested this way too! Just thought that might make it easier for you!

My son takes a daily medication and he takes it like a champ. But when he needs amoxicillin for an ear infection getting him to take it is the actual worst. I’ll mix it with just enough Apple sauce or yogurt before a meal to mask the smell and that usually does the trick. Otherwise I practically have to put him on a chokehold.

Bhaha I love that you forced Sam to wear a Clemson shirt. I did the same for my George on game day. I made him wear a bibdana thing all day too, which he hated. All for the team though! Go Tigers!
