September is a weird month, right? The beginning of the month is still technically summer, so you’re wearing white pants (let’s be honest, I wear them all year), spending days at the lake, and hosting cookouts; then, by the end of the month, it is fall and raining for seven million days you’re all “pumpkin spice!!” and sweatshirts, and college football. It’s a transition month if there every was one.
So, here we are: the end of September. Cliche or not, this year is flying by.
As usual, I’m joining Heather today to share a few of my favorite finds from the month (and giving away one of them… details at the bottom of the post). Here we go…
1. My Hunter rain boots. Because, seriously, so.much.rain.
This was another recommendation from my sister, and I got it on SUPER sale at the end of August. It gets really hot, and actually makes my hair (mostly) have that cool, wavy style everyone is sporting these days.
3. For the Love by Jen Hatmaker
I’ve been reading this book with my college girlfriends (and talking about it on Voxer – which I’m still obsessed with btw), and it is so fun and good. I love that it is a mix of serious and silly. I love the parenting perspective she has now that her kids are older (her oldest will graduate from high school this year). And, I love that she loves Jesus so passionately – that thread runs throughout everything else in the book. Jen and I would totally be friends in real life. (P.S. Heather loves this one too! See below for details about how to win a copy from us to you!)
#whatcanisay? I, of course, am crazy for Pumpkin Spice; but, I also tried the Toasted Graham this past weekend, and it is YUMMY too! #thebestpartoffall?
5. TED Talks
This may seem random, but I’ve been using these in my classroom for a project with my AP students, and there are just so.many.good.ones. I LOVE them as a teaching tool, but also just for my own enjoyment. If you aren’t watching TED, you should be.
And that about sums up this month! What are your favorites lately?!?!
Make sure you check out Heather’s list at Notes from the Nelsens, and then enter to win a copy of For the Love – appearing on both of our lists this month – over on Instagram.
Here’s how to win: Simply follow us both (@samandscout and @hmnelsen) on Instagram and like the photo of the book on both of our accounts. That’s it!! We’ll pick a random winner and announce it on Friday.
Stay dry friends!

Good Morning! I love it when you and Heather post your favorite finds! My dad sent me a pair of Sloggers rain boots and they are incredible! I’m sure you know about all this rain that Charlottesville has been getting, much like you! I also just tried the Toasted Graham Latte and I LOVE it! Just the right amount of sweet for me. One of my other favorites from this month is that today, my new blog launched! It used to be Sweet Cheeks, but now it is Pork Chop and Possum and I really hope you come visit it! You are one of the main reasons I was inspired to start a blog!!
Have a great day!

What a great list! What Ted talks do you recommend? I get overwhelmed with the vast number of them available these days! I teach high school foods and nutrition classes and I’ve shown the Jamie Oliver talk before. I loved using it as a teaching tool.
