I’ve been keeping a little secret…
That’s right, Baby #2 is on the way!!
Some of you probably guessed this due to my absence for a while this summer and spottiness lately. But, it’s official now!! We are so excited and so blessed by this little addition to our family. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m more confident than ever in God’s perfect plan for us. Sam is going to be the BEST big brother!!
I’m due in mid-March, which makes me almost thirteen weeks pregnant right now. I was pretty sick (a lot sicker than I was with Sam; although, I realize lots of people have it MUCH worse than me) from about Week 5 – Week 12 and very tired; but, obviously, all of it is totally worth it, and I’m feeling better every day. Of course now I’m anxiously awaiting the “second trimester energy burst” and am just so excited to finally be able to share our news with the world (or at least the web) and enjoy this fun season of preparing… and growing (and trust me, I’m doing plenty of that)!
More to come of course! Stay tuned.

P.S. While I love the Berenstain Bears – and the cover of that book is pretty cute – I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it if you are trying to prep your toddler for a new baby. Apparently “New Baby” was the very first BB book – published in 1974 – and it was still kind-of awkward to talk about women having babies (???). The premise of the story is that Brother Bear and Papa Bear go into the woods to build a bigger bed for Brother, and when they come home Mama has already had the baby, and she is sleeping in Brother’s old crib. Hmm… (As my due date approaches, I’ll be adding this one and this one – endorsed by Kendra, who should know since she’s done this 6 times now – instead.) Just FYI.
P.S. S. Can you believe Kate Middleton stole my thunder with her announcement this week? 😉 Now I get to look forward to comparing my bump to hers for the next six months. #awesome

OMG! Congratulations!!! I had a feeling you might be keeping a secret. And now I went to the beach and you are going to have a baby! (a reference to an IG convo we had a few months ago, in case your mom/pregnancy brain has gotten the better of you already) I am so excited for you and your husband and the soon to be big brother! xoxo

Ahhh! I’m so excited for you. I’m looking forward to reading your posts about parenting two / parenting an infant and a toddler / parenting two WHILE teaching, etc. Some of your Sam posts are already coming in handy for me.

Hah! I love the Kate Middleton comment – so true.
Congrats!! I like Arthur’s New Baby book…the mom does at least go to the hospital…

Congratulations! This is SO exciting! Between the various awesome baby bump announcements and the Daniel Tiger Episode about the new baby, I am feeling the fever!
P.S. If Sam hasn’t seen that one, it’s a good one! Just like someone else on the comment feed said, his mom at least goes to the doctor…haha…however, she instantly goes on a walk back to their house after giving birth…haha…

Well consider me clueless because this was a complete surprise to me! Congratulations! We will have another kid together around the same time. LOVE IT!

Congratulations!! I had baby #2 this past March. Winter was such a great time to be pregnant! However, I wasn’t exactly back in my bikini bod (ha..ha) this summer. Only downfall. 🙂 Blessings to your whole family!

Congratulations!!!! I’m so excited for you! We welcomed baby number 2 back in December when my son was 28 months, and let me tell you, they are super sweet together. Especially now that B is older, he can play with the baby and both of their faces light up when they see one another. What a blessing for you and your family. I look forward to seeing how things go for you! 🙂

YAY! CONGRATS!
I love how in “real life” people start suspecting pregnancy when your jeans are a little tight and you pass on wine, but in the blog world people start suspecting when your blog gets quiet 🙂
So exciting for your family — and I think Sam is going to be such a great big brother! My kids are just 21 months apart and it was a HARD adjustment. Whenever older toddlers saw Mary Virginia, they were amazing with her. It convinced me that 3+ years was a great age difference.

OH! and i was pregnant with kate middleton last time. it was horrible.
i remember thinking “i’ll look at kate middleton for maternity fashion.” and then…HAHAHAHAHA.
i went as “kate middleton before she sees her hairstylist” for halloween last year 🙂
Lisa says
Congrats! I am due at the beginning of March!!! I can’t wait to see your maternity style tips!

I think the best gift you can give your kids is a sibling. I had my first in March and then his brother came in June of the following year. Enjoy it, because the second seems to grow up so much faster!
So excited for you 🙂

Congratulations! How exciting!
Also, I bought that book for our 3 year old (new baby due any day now) and was a little weirded out by its message. Check out “Pecan Pie Baby.” I think it’s my favorite new baby book.
Kendra says
Congratulations! Your baby and the royal baby are going to be best friends.
Jessica says
CONGRATULATIONS! I am so happy for you. 🙂 This is such exciting news and I can’t wait to follow along with all of the excitement of baby number two!
Heather says
Woohoo for the blog-official announcement!! You cracked me up with your P.S.S.! Glad you are feeling less sick now and hopefully less tired too, although I felt that tiredness well into the second trimester and it WASN’T the beginning of the school year! Mid-March will be perfect for going right into summer break after maternity leave! So so excited for you guys!!
Trista says
So many congratulations! Also, I was pregnant with Kate Middleton last year and I’m still convinced that one day my child will meet Prince George and they will be come BFFLs. And then Kate and I will share a laugh while recalling pregnancy in the summer. A girl can dream, huh?
Emily says
I’m late to the party, but CONGRATS!! 🙂
My second was a March baby, and, as others have said, winter is a great time to be pregnant! I lived in long tunic-like sweaters and leggings … So much better than trying to squeeze my pregnant body into summer clothes for my third go round this past year (Baby #3 arrived in July).

Congrats! That’s so exciting. you’ll love having 2 🙂
That’s so funny about the book. When I saw the picture I thought “oh, maybe I should’ve gotten that book for my toddler before the baby came.” um, I guess not. 🙂
Erika B. says
Congrats!!! (I read this when you posted it but haven’t been to a computer to comment in a few days, but know that my excitement has been with you all along!) I hope you put Kate’s bump to shame. 🙂 Slash remember that she has like…an unlimited budget and slew of staff committed to making hers look optimal at all time. Um plus she is unnaturally gorgeous and mere mortals should never attempt to compare to her…
