Never say never.
A year (or so) ago, I publicly declared that the “bootie” trend was horrendous and one I would never be wearing myself; but, now, I’m not so sure…
I have seen SO many regular girls (like bloggers and the cute girl across the street that wears awesome clothes and I sometimes – creepishly – live vicariously through) wearing booties and looking great.
For example:
Jean from Extra Petite – also wearing my new favorite one-button cardigan
Kendi from Kendi Everyday
Kilee from One Little Momma
*No photos of my neighbor. That would take my creepiness to a whole new level, obviously.
My body is in NO condition to try out a trend like this right now (geez Louise, I’d probably topple right over); but, I’m seriously considering investing in a pair of low-heel neutral-colored booties (like these or these – both on end-of-season sale right now) in the future. I think the key is wearing them with cropped or rolled pants – instead of tucking pants in or wearing with a dress – at least for someone with my stature etc. Apparently, they are also pretty wonderful with white jeans (maybe for spring?), but I’m not sure these legs could handle that. What do you think? Are they only for tall model types? Be honest. This is important stuff.

I’ll agree. I also declared them awful and swore them off..and am now totally eating crow. Oops. But YES- the key is to wear with cropped/rolled pants or tights…no tucking pants in!!

And they are super teacher friendly because they are COMFORTABLE & Cute…the two key ingredients in a “teacher shoe.”
I am huge fan of the TOMS Wedge Bootie. I have them in black and wear them all the time. The are my go to this winter for skirts and dresses with black tights.
And a PSA… the BEST black tights, Spanx tights. Not the shaping ones, just their regular tights. You will THANK me later.
I love booties! I got a pair last Christmas in a light gray and they go with everything. I just wear with a skinny pant that falls right at the ankle and they look good. I THINK they look good, I think I will now try with a rolled pant like the last picture!)

I am no model, and I live in mine: teaching, weekends, church, date night. I wear them with dresses and with cuffed skinny jeans. I also wore them throughout my second pregnancy. I say go for it!

I swore I could never pull them off, pretty sure I wrote that in a comment on your blog too, and then yesterday I was trying them on. People make them look so cute! I figure its just like how I said I would never wear skinny jeans and flats, now I do all of the time…maybe booties are next!
I am the same way! I am like that with a lot of trends. I am ashamed to admit that I was once that way about scarves…The shame! Now I wear skinny jeans and scarves a majority of the week…I am just always late to the table I guess.
