Teaching Sam and Scout

Three Year Old Favorites

I’m sure it will come as NO surprise that Sam was totally spoiled with gifts from our amazing friends and family for his birthday.  (Jeff and I gave him one book – #6 – that’s all.) He didn’t need a single thing, but he sure is enjoying playing with all of his new toys and games!

Here are a few of his current favorite things:

1. Melissa and Doug Joey Magnetic Dress-Up

Sam just got one of these for his birthday, but I’ve been eyeing it for a while. There is a girl version too, and they make GREAT gifts! Plus, I love how they resemble paper dolls from my own toy days. 🙂

2. Melissa and Doug Groceries

Grocery store is a FAVORITE game in our house lately.  Miss Jennifer stocked Sam’s store (i.e. a converted Ikea tool bench) for his birthday, and we’ve been “shopping ever since.”

3. Radio Flyer Classic Red Tricycle

You probably saw my photo of Sam trying out his new bike from my parents at the beach… He loves it, and I’m looking forward to taking “walks” with it around the neighborhood when the weather cools off a little since Sam is over his stroller these days.

4. Little Tikes Gas & Go Mower

All the little boys on our street have mowers, and Sam finally got one of his own from Jeff’s parents.  He’s excited to join the neighborhood lawn care company, and Jeff’s pumped to “train him early.”

5. Let’s Go FishinHiHo! Cherry-O, and Hungry Hungry Hippos

I’ve mentioned before our newfound love for “board games.”  These are three of our family favorites.

6. You Were the First

Ok, Sam really didn’t care one bit about this one, but I had to buy it because I think it is the sweetest book EVER.  It’s written by the same lady who wrote Sarah Plain and Tall and All the Places to Love (both favorites of mine when I was little) and is a BEAUTIFUL tribute to your firstborn.  It celebrates early milestones and the fact that he was the one that taught us to be parents. I’m sure Sam will appreciate it one day, but for now, it’s guaranteed to make ME cry.
